Lots of the riders I meet who have seen the CWD range for the first time would like to know more about the different saddle styles available and what style might suit them best. It largely comes down to the type of riding you do most and the degree of contact you prefer.
Let's look first at the jumping saddles within the CWD range.
Apart from the different styles, they also come in all sizes and the choice of different saddle flap sizes and shapes, and different gullet widths. We sell the majority of jumping saddles in dark brown leather, but they are also available in black leather if required.
The SEO1 (flat seat) jumping saddle and the SE02 (half deep seat) are the two most popular styles with show jumping riders, who tend to prefer flatter seats. The SE06 (deep seat) is used by a lot of Event riders, who prefer the security of a slightly deeper seat for cross-country (please note that although the CWD SE06 is described as "deep seat" they are a far cry from the "buckets" we used in the old days!!!).
The single flap saddles (SE04 and SE09) are absolutely beautiful to ride in and again are mainly used by Eventers, although some of the top show jump riders prefer them as well.
For cross-country riding, having just the single flap prevents the chance of the top flap buckling up under the rider's leg. CWD also makes the SE03, which is the "hunter flat seat" saddle. These are extremely close contact saddles and this helps the rider to sit perfectly in the hunter seat position.
The CWD dressage saddles are in black leather and have a suede appearance. They come in the SE05, which is the "deep seat", and the SE07 being the "half deep seat". Again, there are many different options for sizing and shape.
All CWD saddles are made from top quality leather and are designed to help sit the rider in the correct position, while the under flap is slightly cut away to encourage the closeness of the lower leg. The seat is incredibly soft and comfortable which is great for riders with teams of horses and who are in the saddle for many hours a day.
They have a style to suit every discipline and can be custom made to exactly your requirements and measurements.
CWD is one of the most peferred saddlery brands and is used by most top international show jump riders. The CWD presence can be seen at all the major international competitions.
